EdTutor
Branding, Web Design
Most AI-powered education platforms promise efficiency and personalization, but they often fall into the trap of feeling impersonal and overly technical. EdTutor set out to change that by creating a learning experience that feels as friendly and relatable as a personal tutor. Designed for college students seeking academic support that’s both effective and engaging, EdTutor needed a brand that could cut through the noise of the increasingly crowded edtech landscape—one that balanced technology with personality, professionalism with playfulness.
Challenge
The concept of AI doesn’t readily lend to a visual idea. There’s no universally recognized symbol or design language that represents it, especially in education. Most AI-powered ed tech platforms rely on generic, tech-driven aesthetics, making them feel impersonal and interchangeable. As an early-stage startup, EdTutor needed to stand out while positioning itself as a personalized, trustworthy learning companion for college students. The challenge was to create a distinct, relatable brand that made AI feel intuitive and approachable, rather than abstract and distant.
Solution
Our strategy focused on character-driven storytelling, using a mascot to humanize the AI experience and build an emotional connection with users. Inspired by a wordplay on the brand name, “Ed the Tudor” became the face of EdTutor, embodying both wisdom and approachability. This direction shaped the entire brand identity, incorporating Tudor-inspired design elements with subtle tech motifs. By moving away from conventional AI branding, EdTutor created a unique, engaging presence that made AI feel more accessible and relatable.
